History

Threshold Animation Studios ("Threshold") produces computer-generated animated films with broad family appeal. The company plans to produce 19 animated feature length movies over the next 7 years.

Threshold's first computer-generated animated feature is Foodfight!, which is being distributed by Lions Gate Films in 2008. Foodfight! is a $50 million computer animated feature that takes place in a grocery store at night. When the humans go home the supermarket turns into a city! The Chinese food aisle becomes China Town and the Italian aisle turns into Little Italy and characters licensed from Procter & Gamble, Hormel, Pinnacle Foods, Del Monte, Star-Kist and others (playing 'extras') come to life in this 'marketropolis.' Foodfight! stars original characters, created and owned by Threshold, voiced by Charlie Sheen, Eva Longoria, Hilary Duff, Wayne Brady and Christopher Lloyd.

Threshold has a deal with Universal Studios to produce 12 computer animated movies for the direct-to-DVD family market. Each film will be based on pre-existing famous intellectual properties and will be distributed on a worldwide basis through Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Created as a joint venture called Tinseltown Toons, Threshold has secured the funding for a minimum of twelve direct to video animated titles. The first two films being produced under that deal are based on two of the most famous toy properties in the world: LEGO and BIONICLE.

With 13 of Threshold's 19 films financed, Threshold is in the process of putting together a six picture slate of theatrical animated films. Each film will have a production budget of approximately $50 million, with substantial P&A and distribution commitments.

Threshold has a unique technology relationship with the IBM Corporation. The two companies have worked together for half a decade to build and develop one of the most technologically advanced animation studios in the world. The company continues to innovate with partner IBM and strives to be at the forefront of technology development in order to tell better stories.

Threshold's management team is comprised of successful filmmakers with a track record of making both groundbreaking digital and live action entertainment franchises including: Terminator 2, True Lies, Mortal Kombat, Tron, Dirty Dancing, and Platoon.

Founded in 1996, Threshold has invested over $30 million to build what it believes is one of the most sophisticated animation pipelines in the business, amassed a digital back-lot valued at nearly $25 million, and financed 13 motion pictures, twelve of which will be distributed by Universal. While developing its original intellectual properties like Foodfight!, the company under the name Threshold Digital Research Labs, produced over 100 visual effects and animation projects for Disney, Paramount, Sony, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, Miramax, New Line, NBC, and worked on projects including Star Trek, Spiderman, Scary Movie and Mission:Space. With its films about to come to market, the company is no longer in the production services business and focuses solely on its original films.

The company earns revenues from the exploitation of our films and their ancillary products (video games, toys, books, etc) from all markets, worldwide. With its movies coming to market, the company is now entering its next phase of growth.

Threshold's headquarters are in Santa Monica, California.

Under the name Threshold Digital Research Labs, Threshold's credits include:
