Threshold is led by a talented and experienced group of professionals who have built multi-billion dollar entertainment franchises before and have an expertise that includes film, technology, licensing, and business management.
CEO Larry Kasanoff is the Producer of all Mortal Kombat non-video game media, including two highly successful films, a television series, an animated series, platinum selling soundtracks, home video, CD-ROMs and a live tour. He was Executive Producer of the box-office smash film True Lies, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and was directed by James Cameron. Mr. Kasanoff co-created and directed Threshold's upcoming film Foodfight!.
Previously, as president and co-founder of Lightstorm Entertainment (Terminator 2, True Lies), he assembled a consortium of worldwide film and ancillary rights distributors who agreed to provide $500 million in financing for the company's films. This unique structure gave the company complete creative control and 100% ownership of its films. Also in that capacity, Mr. Kasanoff supervised production, marketing, publicity and merchandising for the four-time Academy Award winning hit Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He also founded Lightstorm Records and Music Publishing (a partnership with Sony Music). For T2, he produced MTV's 1991 top video "You Could Be Mine" with Guns 'N Roses. This property has generated billions of dollars in revenues, a billion of which came from non-film rights. Prior to the formation of Lightstorm in 1990, Mr. Kasanoff served as head of production and acquisitions for Vestron, Inc, producers of Dirty Dancing. He executive produced over 25 films and created "prebuy" financing and acquisition deals for over 200 additional films, including the 1986 Academy Award Best Picture Platoon. Mr. Kasanoff holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA from Cornell University.
Joshua Wexler is co-founder and President of Threshold and pioneered the company's relationship with IBM, developing a groundbreaking animation studio. Mr. Wexler has produced all of Threshold's computer animated feature films, including the soon to be released Foodfight! starring Charlie Sheen, Eva Longoria and Hilary Duff, BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn and LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers. In addition to co-creating Foodfight! with partner Kasanoff, he negotiated all of the deals with the consumer packaged good firms, licensing agreements and co-marketing agreements for the film. Wexler also negotiated and acquired the rights to the LEGO brands and NASCAR and created and wrote the original stories for both films. Mr. Wexler most recently co-wrote, produced and co-directed the new MARVEL superheroes movie and is producing an upcoming movie for Nickelodeon. His prior accomplishments include writing and producing several projects under the Mortal Kombat franchise along with partner Kasanoff. Mr. Wexler holds a B.A. degree in Film and Children's Television from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.
Dennis Edwards is Threshold's Head of Physical Production. He was previously Vice President of Animation Production at Warner Bros. and a Production Executive at Walt Disney Pictures where he managed and/or produced over twenty live-action and animated film productions and theme park attractions. He was Producer of the Farrelly Brothers' Osmosis Jones, which spun off the hit series Ozzy and Drix and was Associate Producer of Space Jam. He began as an effects artist on the CGI classic Tron, and worked on such Disney classics as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Lion King.
Technology Team: Threshold currently employs approximately 80 people. It maintains a core team of technology department heads whose credits include Barnyard, Jimmy Neutron, Lord of the Rings, Sponge Bob, Looney Tunes, X-Men and others.
